Gonario Pinna

Only a few people like Gonnario Pinna –a criminal lawyer but also a politician and simultaneously a freelance journalist and an essayist – have proven their dedication towards Sardinia (and particularly towards Barbagia) animated by an equal knowledge and love for the territory; a civil mission, his one, carried on thinking about the largest project concerning a radical rebirth of the Island, reason why it could not exclude a direct consciousness of phenomena, fully grownfor him during the intense judicial activity conducted over the critical and unstable years of the "Short Century".Inside Pinna's career and compositions, two sides have always lived together: the clarity of mind from the lawman – an expert on that socio-economic and socio-cultural island unease – and the sensitivity of the humanist loving Sardinian art and literature, both he committed himself to: so, the publication of Antologia dei poeti dialettali nuoresi in 1969 is due to this rigorous analyst of primordial regional trends such as a lack of education and illiteracy. His house in Nuoro, located in the historical neighborhood of Seuna, is now designated to a memorial museum. While the direct literature of his works shows their modern and current approach, the chronological recreation of his personal "regesta" is inside the biography Gonario Pinna. Ragione e passione published in 2006 and edited by Giacomino Zirottu, including also a touching war diary wrote up in 1918.
